We are pleased to present our second Poet to Notice: Kyle Flak
We hope you enjoy these four brief poems as much as we did.
POEM
I keep believing
That she will visit me here
If I stand a certain way
Staring up
At the autumn moon
~~~
MULE
a little mule
walking down the road
i’m not his friend yet
but it’s only
just the morning
~~~
HMMMMM, YOU ARE NOT LIKE THE OTHER GIRLS
AT THE POTTERY BARN, ARE YOU
hmmmmm, you are not like the other girls at the pottery barn, are you
you like to talk about worms
and sometimes eat them too
hmmm
some summer day i’ll see you at the post office mailing me a letter
written in wing dings
but i know the wing dings font like i know the back of my own hand
i’ll read your letter
i’ll find out what you think
and if it’s any good
i’ll buy you a snow cone
and race you to the movies
~~~
SECRET CRUSH DIARY, ENTRY # 2
*
all day i sat by the river
and not once
did you suddenly appear
~~~
